Nations are collaborating in the fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak to limit the damage to people’s health. With all the anxiety and uncertainty that is happening to our world, governments in many jurisdictions have implemented a range of temporary immigration-related measures in order to contain the spread of the virus. For example:
Many Countries have implemented entry or travel restrictions for individuals who are traveling from, or have recently been present in, country where the virus has become widespread. Some countries have gone so far as to temporarily prohibit the entry of all noncitizens and non-residents.
Many countries have temporarily closed consular posts and visa application centers entirely or for non-emergency services.
In addition, many airlines, rail and bus services have suspended routes into, out of, and transiting through affected areas.
Under this special circumstance, we can only replace crew at a few designated ports in China for Chinese seafarers with permission by competent administration. It is actually impossible for non-Chinese crew to sign off at this moment. But please rest assured that we will keep an eye on the updates and try to arrange crew change as soon as we can.
We know that you have spent months at sea and stayed separated from your loved ones, and it may feel like there are times of complete isolation. However, we also know that staying onboard is currently an effective way to contain the spread of COVID-19 and protect your health and that of others. It is important for you to know that you are not alone. We are all here for you!
It is today that we need to say loudly and clearly – THANK YOU. Thank you for continuing with your hard work and for being patient. We do value the work you do for the shipping industry and the personal sacrifices you make in keeping the world ‘business as usual’.
Let’s join hands to fight against the epidemic. Hope the epidemic ends soon.
